PPL Reports Multimillion-Dollar Third-Quarter Payday

PPL, the UK’s leading Collection Management Organization (CMO), has announced that its quarterly international revenue payouts totaled about £12.7 million between the months of July and September. That’s equal to $15.43 million USD, distributed to over 25,500 performers and recording rights holders.

Who got paid? The estimated $15.43 million marks the third of four total yearly payments routinely made by PPL, accounting for all the times an artist’s music got played domestically and abroad in Q3. Creators represented by the organization  – and benefitted by this quarter’s paycheck – include Ellie Goulding, Becky Hill, Digga D, Emeli Sandé, Gregory Porter, Gotcha, Trevor Horn and more.

PPL’s bandwidth stretches all across the world, boasting standing agreements with 109 fellow organizations across Africa, Australia, Europe, and North and South American territories. Specifically, this quarter saw revenue collections from precisely 69 of these global CMOs, with significant payments funneled in from Belgium, Denmark, France, Spain and the U S of A. It also included a chunk of change from PPL’s sister company VPL, which licenses music videos played in public or on TV.
