The National Independent Talent Organization is planning to launch a reimagined ticketing platform that’s fan and artist-friendly with caps on fees, pricing transparency and limits on secondary selling. The ultimate goal is to reform the ticketing industry amid ongoing lawsuits and congressional action against Live Nation’s polarizing but all-powerful platform, as well as its competitors.

NITO is Neat-O: NITO’s proposal is based on nine distinct values, including clearly-listed fees; clear separation of fees from face value of tickets; caps on ticket fees; fan-to-fan feeless, face value transfers; artist control over resales; bans on speculative ticketing on the secondary market; bans on ticketing platforms taking part in secondary market sales; artist ability to access ticket buyer data; and stronger enforcement against bots.

Next steps: According to a statement from NITO, the org has already partnered with 44 management companies and booking agencies to help get the platform off the ground. From here, it’s all about advocating for federal and state legislation that protects artists and fans, lobbying legislators, promoters and ticketing companies, and raising awareness of the issues NITO aims to eliminate.
