Artist ProfileThis week, TNB caught up with Warner recording artist Tyler Braden about new music, his past as a firefighter, and building his team in Nashville. See the highlights from our conversation below.
TNB - You just released a cover of NEEDTOBREATHE's "Brother". Tell us about why you picked this song to put out.Braden - Before I started music full time, I was in the fire service for seven years, and we started covering this song right before I resigned as a tribute to the guys in the service with me. They were basically my brothers and sisters, and they helped me so much through the end of my career there by working for me when my shifts overlapped with touring. I’ll never be able to fully thank them for that, but performing this song at every show was my small gesture towards them. We ultimately decided to release our version and it happened to coincide with this trying time – so the song just fit that much better.TNB - Currently you are donating the sales from some of your merch to the national fallen firefighters foundation. Tell us about what that organization means to you. Is there anything you miss from that part of your life?Braden - I always knew about the organization but learned a lot more after starting my fire career. Families of firefighters worry about that day coming every time their loved one goes to work, and this organization supports the families through those times. I had a lieutenant in Brentwood who was greatly involved with the NFFF, and that was just another reason to support it as much as I could. It’s my way of continuing to support and be a part of the fire community. I miss it terribly, and what I miss most is the camaraderie and brotherhood.TNB - Last year you signed with Warner Nashville, and joined the Triple 8 Management roster. Tell us about building your team and finding collaborators in town.Braden - I was incredibly blessed to meet Bruce of Triple 8 Management in a happy accident almost 3 years ago through a softball buddy, Sean Pace. He helped me from day one by introducing me to Pete Olson, and together they helped me spread my wings in town. Between those guys, Warner and my publishers 50 Egg and Sony/ATV, I couldn’t ask for a better team around me. Because of all these people, I’ve been able to meet and make amazing friendships with other artists and writers. I couldn’t be happier.TNB - Anything we should be on the lookout for from you in the near future?Braden - We were blessed to make it into the studio before the quarantine hit, so we have lots of music ready for release this year! I’m so excited to share what we have all worked so hard on the last year, as well as hitting the road hard once touring cranks back up.TNB - Any good content you are watching or listening to while stuck inside?Braden - That’s a funny question because, between my roommates and I, we have tried absolutely everything. There’s been some awesome music released from artists like Maddie and Tae, Ashley McBryde, Ingrid Andress and more. I’ve loved keeping up with the live streams from different artists’ social media – it’s so amazing that we can all continue to stay connected. I’ve also played almost every video game imaginable!
