SiriusXM Steps Up Its Game: New Look, Streaming Updates & Lower Prices

Look out Spotify, Sirius XM is entering the race. At a recent event in New York, the satellite radio service announced a total brand makeover, including an updated logo, optimized streaming offerings and plans to work with some of the biggest names in music. Here’s what we know:

The app: Rolling out Dec. 14 on all major app stores, a new SiriusXM streaming app promises four curated sections, including a customized TikTok-esque “For You” landing page for each listener, as well as Music, Talk & Podcasts, and Sports. It also boasts a refreshed playback system, upgraded search abilities, an expanded podcast library and a Central Audio Library with new offline listening and download capabilities.

Along with the app, the brand plans to introduce new shows and guest DJ channel takeovers from the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Alice Cooper, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Dolly Parton, John Mayer, Smokey Robinson and James Corden. You may also notice that the SiriusXM logo looks little different, now with a star embedded in the name.

The price: The company’s new all-access streaming plan will sell for $9.99 per month, one dollar less than its current streaming-only plan. For reference, Spotify’s premium subscription is $10.99, as is Apple Music’s individual subscription plan.

What they’re saying: “The introduction of the new SiriusXM streaming experience marks a pivotal moment in our history, one that kicks off a new era of innovation at our company,” CEO Jennifer Witz said. “From can’t-miss live moments to the perfect soundtrack for any occasion, with the new SiriusXM, we are putting our differentiators at the forefront and welcoming in a new generation of listeners, bringing them closer to what they love.”
