Willie Nelson Inspires New Live Nation Program Supporting Touring Artists

Willie Nelson has inspired Live Nation for the concert promoter's new program "On the Road Again," which aims to financially support developing artists and their teams facing the increasing costs of touring.

How are they helping? Live Nation-owned and operated clubs will provide $1,500 in gas and travel cash per show to all headliners and support acts, on top of nightly performance compensation. The clubs will also charge no merchandise selling fees, allowing artists to retain 100% of merch profits. The program will also provide financial bonuses to local promoters and tour representatives who help execute shows and venue crew members who have worked over 500 hours this year.

Additionally, "On the Road Again" is also donating $5 million to Crew Nation, a partnership between Live Nation and Music Forward Foundation that acts as a global relief fund for live music crews.

What they're saying: "Delivering for live artists is always our core mission," said Live Nation Entertainment president and CEO Michael Rapino. "The live music industry is continuing to grow and as it does, we want to do everything we can to support artists at all levels on their touring journey, especially the developing artists in clubs. As Willie says, this is all about making it a little easier for thousands of artists to continue doing what they love: going out and playing for their fans."

Nelson added, "Touring is important to artists so whatever we can do to help other artists, I think we should do it. This program will impact thousands of artists this year and help make touring a little bit easier."
