TikTok Launches New Feature Allowing Users to Save Songs Directly to Music Streaming Services
TikTok has launched a new feature that allows users to even more easily avoid leaving the app, partnering with major music streaming services to let users instantly save songs they find on TikTok to their service of choice.
How does it work? Called "Add to Music App," the feature appears as an "Add Music" button next to a song name at the bottom of a TikTok video and on artists’ "Sound Detail" pages. When a user clicks the button, the song will save to a default playlist on their preferred streamer, which can be selected the first time someone attempts to use the feature. Users also have the option to add to a new or existing playlist.
While TikTok's release announcing the feature specifically cited Spotify and Amazon Music but not Apple Music, the feature is available for users of the latter service as well. Add to Music App will be rolled out to users in the U.S. and U.K. in the coming weeks with additional markets on the way.
What they're saying: “TikTok is already the world’s most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music,” Ole Obermann, TikTok’s global head of music business development, said in a statement.
Add to Music App “takes this process a step further, creating a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music streaming service, making it easier than ever for music fans to enjoy the full-length song on the music streaming service of their choice, thereby generating even greater value for artists and rightsholders.”
