LimeWire Launches AI Creator Studio For NFT Marketplace

Yet another fresh-squeezed AI service has hit the market, thanks to LimeWire. This time, its primary focus is making sure that contributing creators get fairly paid.

The gist: LimeWire, the former Napster-esque file-sharing service that reemerged in 2022 as an NFT marketplace, announced this week that a new program dubbed the “AI Creator Studio” is now live on its platform. So far, only image-based content is up for grabs, but subscribers will soon be able to pull audio and video files from a bank of licensed content to use in AI-assisted projects of their own.

The company is currently working on building a “vast library” of beats, melodies, stems and instruments for users to have free access to. Musicians are also being encouraged to upload their work to the program in exchange for paid royalties, assuming their contributions are used commercially.

What they're saying: “With the launch of the LimeWire AI Studio, we will now lower the entry barrier for anyone to become a content creator and start their creative entrepreneurial journey,” LimeWire COO Marcus Feistl said.

The NFT of it all: All pieces of content made using the AI Creator Studio will be automatically minted on the Polygon blockchain, allowing users to sell their creations as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on LimeWire’s marketplace. Earnings from those transactions will also be automatically applied for artists who contribute original work to the database.
